Summer Adventure

Almost everyone has a favorite summer memory or activity.  Whether it’s hanging out by the pool, cooking out with friends and family, or taking a vacation.  Summer is a time that most of us look to with great expectation of how we will spend it.  This summer at St. Peter’s we are doing just that…looking at these next few months with great expectation as we set out on a short adventure right here in Canton.  How?  We are stepping out of our normally scheduled activities to provide opportunities for relaxing, fun, and worship.  For example, this past week we kicked off Dinner Church – a low key service gathered around the dinner table providing a free meal and welcoming environment for our community.  Just today we had our first service in our parish hall to create a more relaxed approach to worship during the summer months.  We are partnering with other churches to reach out to our community a various events and preparing for third annual Lego Day Camp.  It’s a lot of activity, but everything we are doing this summer is centered around building community. It’s our desire to be people who welcome, encourage, and love everyone who enters. If you haven’t check us out yet, we hope you’ll join us this summer on our adventure to love God and love other here in Canton.

Dinner Church Interview

Have you heard about Dinner Church at St. Peter’s?  We are excited to open our doors to our community to gather for a free meal, prayer, and discussion.  This past Friday, Fr. Rob Goebel had the opportunity to chat with Leon on WBYS 1560 about Dinner Church and what to expect.  We invite to listen and join us for our first dinner on Wednesday, June 6th at 6p.  Bring friends and family – everyone is invited!

Listen to Fr. Rob’s interview here.

Thanks Girl Scouts

Thank you, Troop 4814 for cleaning up around the church and planting beautiful tulips!  It is a privilege to host you at our church.  We look forward to seeing how this new Girl Scout troop grows and serves our community.

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

We had a blessed Holy Week at St. Peter’s!  We are now in The Great 50 Days of Easter!  Each Sunday we will continue to celebrate the Easter feast with special music, readings, and colors.  It’s a fantastic reminder that Christ is alive and with us today.  We hope you’ll join throughout the Easter season as we continue to seek the risen King!

Maundy Thursday 2018

We had a blessed Maundy Thursday!  We gathered together to remember God freeing the Israelites from Egypt, Christ’s last supper with His disciples, and ultimately that God has freed us from sin through the giving of His Son.  It was a beautiful night filled with reflection, laughter, conversation, and quiet.  We look forward to gathering again next year….maybe in the New Jerusalem!

Palm Sunday 2018

This Palm Sunday was an extra special one as our friends from The Salvation Army, Canton joined us for worship.  We had a blessed time processing together, reading the Passion Narrative, receiving Communion, and praying together at the prayer stations.  We look forward to other opportunities to worship together!

Invitation to Holy Week

Fr. Robbie invites you to join St. Peter’s during Holy Week beginning next Sunday, March 25th with Palm Sunday. What is Holy Week? Holy Week is a time to remember Christ’s final week on earth taking us through his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, His last supper, death on the cross, and finally His victorious resurrection.

Check out our FB events for more information about each opportunity during Holy Week or visit our Journey to Easter page.

Girl Scout Sunday

Today is Girl Scout Sunday!  Today kicks off Girl Scout Week –  a tradition of highlighting what it means to be a Girl Scout.  St. Peter’s recently began hosting Canton’s newest troop biweekly on Wednesday nights.  Today we were honored to welcome local Girl Scouts to worship!  It’s been a fantastic partnership and we look forward to many more years working together with the Girl Scouts to encourage girls in our community.

Bishop’s Visit 2018

This past Sunday, Bishop Morales joined us for Holy Eucharist.  During worship, Bp. Morales encouraged us to continue to be rooted, compassionate, and missional in our community.  After his sermon, Bp. Morales marked the candidate for baptism with the sign of the cross and Fr. Rob baptized him at the font.  Following the baptism, Bp. Morales confirmed the candidates for confirmation sealing their belief and trust in Christ.  It was a beautiful day welcoming the Bishop and supporting our newest members in their decision of faith.

Lego Blessings

This past Friday St. Peter’s received a HUGE donation to the Canton Lego Builders Club!  Recently, Canton Lego Builders Club has partnered with The Salvation Army, Canton to reach out to children in our area.  Through this partnership The Salvation Army has given Canton LBC $20,000 worth of legos to use for various clubs and events.  Through this donation, we are able to not only supply Canton Lego Builders Club, but also supply new Lego Builders Club with what they need to begin.  We are so excited to not only partner with The Salvation Army, Canton, but also other churches in our community.

This summer The Salvation Army, Canton will offer Lego Builders Club at their summer programs and the Canton Family YMCA has asked Canton Lego Builders Club to offer a club for their summer program as well.  In addition to Westview Lego Builders Club, we are partnering with other churches to offer up to three additional lego clubs after school in all corners of Canton.

We are overwhelmed with God’s goodness through this ministry.  God is moving us to be missional and providing the volunteers needed to truly reach every man, woman, and child with the good news of His love.

If you would like to hear more about Canton Lego Builders Club or find out how to start a lego club, please feel free to contact Fr. Rob.
